Anyway, I find myself on IMDB quite frequently looking to see what my fav actors and actresses are working on. Sadly, it's one of my fav things to do... It's a great procrastination tool. Now, however, I have this blog that I like to add pointless things too so I've decided to have the two coexist. I've compiled a list of some of the movies I want to see this year. I say 'some' bc I know there are some indie movies not notable enough to make it onto the "Coming Soon" list I scoured in order to make this list. (trailers are linked in movie titles, excluding the last two bc they don't have any yet.)
The first movie I want to see this year is The Book of Eli staring Denzel Washington. The Plot: In a post-apocalyptic United States, a lone man (Washington) fights his way across the country in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Release date: 1/15
Next comes Dear John staring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. The Plot: A romantic drama about a soldier (Tatum) who falls for a co-ed (Seyfried) while he's home on leave. Their relationship is tested in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks, an event that causes him to re-enlist for service. Release date: 2/5
I really want to see this movie as soon as it comes out. However, seeing as how my Myrtle said it would kill her, my bestie lives far far away, and my e-bestie lives even farther away, and my husband doesn't do chick flicks, I highly doubt I'll see this one in the theater....Geesh! I need more friends!
After that comes Valentine's Day staring everyone under the sun. The Plot: Intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles break-up and make-up based on the pressures and expectations of Valentine's Day. Release date: 2/12
Finally, one that most people wouldn't care about - The Yellow Handkerchief staring Kristen Stewart and some other people. The Plot: An ex-con (Hurt) hitches a ride with two teenagers (Stewart and Redmayne) to see his estranged wife (Bello). Release date: 2/26
I would love to see this in the theater bc of my current kick, but I'm sure by that time I'll probably be over it somewhat. So, I'll see it on DVD.
This one I'm excited about and I'm hoping that bc of the day it comes out and the fact that I believe they really like Tim Burton, someone else will be too. Alice in Wonderland staring Johhny Depp, among other familiar faces. The Plot: 19-year-old Alice (Wasikowska) returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. Release date: 3/5 <<< relevance!
Obviously, I want to see this in the theater.
March is a good month movie wise. This is one I'm really excited about. Remember Me staring Robert Pattinson and Emile de Ravin. The Plot: A romantic drama centered on two new lovers: Tyler (Pattinson), whose parents have split in the wake of his brother's suicide, and Ally (de Ravin), who lives each day to the fullest since witnessing her mother's murder.
Stupid pic of a pic! That's the only one I could find without extensive research.
So, I already said I'm excited for this one, but I'll say it again. I'M EXCITED FOR THIS ONE! Now, I know you assume it's bc it's RPatz or whatever, but it's not. Not really. Sure, I'll admit I saw the trailer bc of him, but the movie seems like it will be really good. Now, I just have to hope that my far far away friend will in fact be visiting while it's still in the theater so that we can go see it!!
Next up is The Runaways staring Kristen Stewart - again - and Dakota Fanning, along with some other people I may or may not know. The Plot: A chronicle of the groundbreaking Los Angeles band The Runaways, who formed in 1975 and were led by teenagers Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Fanning). Release date: 3/19
I really want to see this when it comes out too. I will admit, that the main reason I want to see this one is bc of Awk and DF. I like them both. Now, the issue with seeing this one in the theater is that not only will that be 3 movies in the month of March alone, but if my bff is down here for a visit, we'll have to convince both our husband's that it's imperative we go to the movies within a couple days of each other. That is a mission that we must start planning now.
Thankfully, and this should help my cause, there are no movies in the month of April that I care to see in the theater. There are two that I can easily wait for the DVDs. The first is The Back Up Plan staring Alex O'Loughlin and Jennifer Lopez. If I'm not mistaken I believe there may even be an 'Orangutan' thrown in there too. =) The Plot: Single gal Zoe (Lopez) meets potential husband Stan (O'Loughlin) on the day of her artificial insemination. Despite the initial spark, the two lovers begin to wonder if they're taking the right steps to an enduring romance. Release date: 4/6

Like I said, I can wait, but I think I might know one person that might be running to the theater as soon as the movie opens.
The next movie in April is A Nightmare on Elm Street staring some people. lol. However, it has Katie Cassidy in it so it's gold IMO. The Plot: Disfigured serial killer Freddy Krueger (Haley) stalks a group of young people in their dreams, forcing them to remain awake as the only alternative to death. Release date: 4/30
May is another 'wait for DVD' month with three movies I think will be good, but I'm not counting down the days to their release. First is Letters to Juliet staring Amanda Seyfried. The Plot: A young woman (Seyfried) on vacation in Italy finds an unanswered "letter to Juliet" -- one of thousands of missives left at the fictional lover's Verona courtyard, which are typically answered by Juliet's real-world "secretaries" -- and she goes on a quest to find the lovers referenced in the letter. Release date: 5/7
Apparently, even though it has a trailer, this movie doesn't have a poster. Moving on...
Next is Takers staring an ensemble of people, but one that Mrytle will be uber excited about is Beavis Paul Walker. The Plot: A hard-boiled detective (Dillon) gets in between a group of bank robbers and their plan to make away with a $20 million bounty. Release date: 5/14
Finally, for the month of May is Shrek Forever After. The Plot: A bored and domesticated Shrek (Myers) pacts with deal-maker Rumpelstiltskin to get back to feeling like a real ogre again, but when he's duped and sent to a twisted version of Far Far Away -- where Rumpelstiltskin is king, ogres are hunted, and he and Fiona (Diaz) have never met -- he sets out to restore his world and reclaim his true love. Release date: 5/21
Now, for one that I'm sort of scared of. Footloose (the remake) staring Chace Crawford. The Plot: A drama where a city guy (Crawford) winds up in a small town where rock 'n' roll and dancing are banned.
This one doesn't have a poster yet either. What a shame!...So, I said I was sort of scared of this one. Why? Bc it's a dancing movie and it's Chace Crawford. Chace. Crawford. Dancing. I read somewhere that he said he didn't really know how to dance. WHAT? Then why the crap would he be cast as the lead? Oh, yea, he's pretty. Hopefully all the practice he talked about paid off and it's good.
Note to self: Suffer through the original first. I hate Kevin Bacon. No reason. I just do.
Ok, time for the final movie of the year! (that I know of so far)The Twilight Saga : ECLIPSE ! The Plot: Bella Swan (Stewart) oscillates between vampire Edward Cullen, who wants Bella's hand in marriage, and werewolf Jacob Black, who has just declared his love for her. Meanwhile, the Cullens and the Quileute werewolves unite to stop an army of powerful vampires from seeking their revenge on Bella. Hm...IMDB has two dates...er... 6/30 or 7/2 ...?
Of course I want to see this one in the theater! I won't, however, be camping out like a tween. Also, DD, you must be visiting then too! I demand it!!!
Alright, so that's my list of 2010...so far. Like I said there are other movies that I want to see, but aren't 'well known' so I'll save those for another time. Thank God, right?
So, what do you think of my choices? Are there any movies you're excited about that aren't on my list?

Ava - how do you get the time! :D
great list of movies there..I hadn't heard of any of them bar the obvious - Eclipse, the back up plan, the joan jett one and Remember Me.
There are a few on the list that intrigue me especially the Valentines Day one, and of course Shrek..I did not know there was going to be another one. Cool!!
As for running in the door of the cinema to see TBUP as soon as it comes out, idk - taking my hubby with me while I drool over AOL could be quite awkward..lol..
We'll definitely be down in April and hopefully I can talk the hubby into June too! We HAVE to go to the movies in April - and OMG, what if AL tours then?! - busy, busy, busy! We have to see "Eclipse" in June, too, I'll have to come down in June/July. Have to. Maybe some of those others will be on DVD then? I have no idea the theater -> DVD timeframe.
Irish - haha. How do I get the time? Well, that's easy. I neglect all my responsibilities. jk, but this post did take me a while.
I only found out about Shrek, like 2 days ago, but I had known there would be another one at some point.
You should get a female to go with you to see TBUP...perhaps you have a friend that should owe you a favor bc you went somewhere with them. *hinthint*
DD - All I can say to you right now is YAY! and OMG, if AL's tour is then we *are* going to be busy, and broke as an f'n joke! haha.
IDK the time frame either...hm...
anyway, it will be so epic if we get to see all the movies we *plan* to go see!
bwahahaha! We went to see Avatar over the weekend, and saw the "Alice" trailer, and I totally told Rygel he had to take me to see that for my birthday!
And Shrek must be seen in the theater, but that might be it for me. I do want to see most of these on dvd, esp the Joan Jett movie. I wanna see if Awk can do her justice! Beavis, lol!

HAHA! YAY!! I knew you'd want to see it!
We took C1 to see Shrek the Third in the theater, we might take them both to see the next one.
and, I read your other comment, but I'm not posting it til I have time for some thought and to reply.
BTW, how Avatar? I don't think it's my kind of movie though.
Thanks for reading!
how WAS* Avatar? =)
Avatar was 3 hours long. Overdone, obvious storyline. But it was BEAUTIFUL!!! Some of the imaginings of alien life were breathtaking. We saw it in 3D, which is the only way I'd recommend seeing it. It was great as a one-time experience, not one I'd purchase or go see again. I had to see it, though, so I could say I'd seen the most expensive movie ever made! haha
--Myrtle.
HAHA. Maybe I'll see it one day. Right now it feels like too much of a band wagon thing. I'll hold off like I did with Twilight. lol. Ok, so I didn't hold off long on Twilight but that was DD's fault. I am weak.
